James Arthur, M.D.
James Arthur, M.D., is an Arizona native who was raised in the Verde Valley and graduated from Mingus Union High School in 1976. He attended the University of Arizona, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1980. He graduated from the University of Arizona College Of Medicine in 1984 in the top-20 percent of his class. His postgraduate residency in family medicine was at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Arthur has been board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine since 1987, and recertified in 1993, 2000, 2007. He has been on the active medical staff of Verde Valley Medical Center since 1987 and served as chairman of the Department of Family Medicine from 1991-1994 and from 2002-2003. James was VVMC Chief of Staff from 2004-2006 and served on the VVMC Board of Directors from 2004 to 2008.
Dr. Arthur founded Family Health Providers in 1987 and held the role of senior physician until he partnered with VVMC to form Family Health Providers in 2009.
Dr. Arthur continues to provide the highest quality of compassionate care to his patients with an emphasis on both acute and preventative care. Growing up in the Cornville/Page Springs area, he developed a strong sense of family and community, which continues to guide him in his personal and professional life. His special interests include diabetes, hypertension and dermatology and bioidentical hormone replacement for both women and men. He also has a strong emphasis on pediatric care and currently performs inpatient newborn care at VVMC.
He has been married for more than 25 years to his wife Judi, and together they have three grown sons, all raised in the Verde Valley. His special interests include golf, hunting, camping and being a fanatic of his beloved U of A “Wildcat” sports teams.
